ERPA is a tool allowing users to create and manage a register of personal data processing activities (ROPA). The establishment of a register of processing activities may be made mandatory under the GDPR or applicable Swiss law. Upon request, the data protection supervisory authority may require the data processor to make the ROPA available. The ROPA should also be seen as a tool for monitoring and demonstrating compliance with the applicable law. It allows to document data processing and to ask the right questions: do I really need this data for my processing? Is it relevant to keep all the data for so long? Is the data sufficiently protected?
